SAHAMIES A NOSEBLEED MILLIONAIRE
30 October 2009
Finnish online poker pro cleans up with a
million dollars in a night
Ilari Sahamies, the intimidating Finnish high stakes
cash game poker pro, pretty much swept all before him on
the Full Tilt nosebleed tables mid-week, ending his
night's work with a profit of $1.1 million.
Playing mostly on the now favoured 7-Game virtual
tables, Sahamies continued to enhance the reputation of
the genre for generating huge wins...and equally big
losses. And talking of losses, poor David Benyamine took
another drubbing from the Finn, dropping $681 000
overnight and bringing his losses this year to over $1.9
million on the 7-Game tables alone.
Brian
Townsend took another 7-Game hammering as well, going
down almost $420 000 on the night. Phil Ivey ended up
$64 000 in the red after a promising start that saw him
win $136 000 on 7-Game, only to lose $200 000 playing
PLO.
Besides Sahamies, Tom Dwan was the other
major winner, profiting by $100 000 on the PLO tables
and $278 000 on the 7-Game action.
Winning
smaller 7-Game profits (relatively speaking) were Di "Urindanger"
Dang ($93 000), Ashton Griffin ($77 000), Chau Giang
($47 000) and Matt Hawrilenko ($26 000)
David
Oppenheim went down another $33 000, whilst Daniel Alaei
took a $188 000 debit on the night.
