Swedish online casino among 36 finalists in
Scandinavian business stars selection
Mr. Green.com, the online casino started by two of the
Betsson founders, has received an unexpected accolade
from the Scandinavian Interactive Media Event (SIME)
business awards committee in its selection for the
'Rising Stars of the North' awards this year.
SIME is Northern Europe's largest event focused on the
Internet and digital business opportunities. First held
in 1996, the event brings more than 2 000
decision-makers, entrepreneurs and journalists together
in Scandinavian destinations such as Stockholm,
Copenhagen and Helsinki to meet, close business deals
and listen to globally respected speakers.
The
theme for this year is "Knowledge is the key
differentiator".
Selected from hundreds of
possible contenders assessed by the awards committee,
Mr. Green is the only gambling operation on the final
list of 36 companies from which the 'Rising Star of the
North' winner will be chosen.
Among the
competition are super-start-ups and top companies like
Spotify, Twingly and Muxlim.
SIME awards winners
are classified in two different categories: the SIME
Grand Prize, which goes to the large corporation in the
Nordics that has optimally used digital strategies to
strengthen its business activities, and the SIME Rising
Star of the North, which goes to the young Nordic
company which the jury sees as the most promising for
the future.
The jury alone selects the companies
to be assessed, without receiving nominations. Several
hundred companies are studied in depth to reach the
final list of 36.
In its preliminary assessment
of Mr. Green.com, the jury said:
"Mr Green is the
fastest growing online gambling company in Norway and
Sweden, in spite of a very late start (2008) and fierce
competition.
"A focus on design, look and feel,
brand uniqueness and responsible gaming and an ethical
gambling offering made the difference. The company is
currently rolled out over Europe (SE, AT, NO ready, UK,
FI and ES happening this fall).
"Internetworld
rated Mr Green Sweden’s best gambling web site, beating
Svenska Spel (national monopoly), Betsson, Expekt and
Unibet.
"Mr Green has created its own successful
solution for seamless integration of games from
different vendors. [It is] international today and has a
potential to expand into new markets."
The final
awards ceremony will take place 12 November at Café
Opera in Stockholm.
