ANTONIUS ON A ROLL ON INTERNET HIGH STAKES TABLES
16 October 2009
He may be trailing in the Dwan challenge, but
on the nosebleed tables the famous Finn is doing well
Finnish poker ace Patrik Antonius may be trailing Tom
Dwan in the 50 000 hand Dwan Challenge (see previous
InfoPowa reports), but he is running like an express
train on the Full Tilt Poker high stakes cash game
virtual tables, according to the latest independent
reports from MarketPulse.
In his latest session,
the famous Finn was up $741 000, with the main
contributor to his bank balance fellow Finn Ilarie
Sahamies, who lost some $468 000 to his countryman
playing Pot Limit Omaha.
Antonius went on to
relieve Phil Galfond of a further $80 000 and won over
$200 000 playing mixed games with Gus Hansen. For the
latter it was a bad session generally, with the Great
Dane ending the night down more than $488 000 - mainly
to Sahamies - over almost 2 650 hands. It effectively
wiped out the gains he made earlier in the week, leaving
him with losses of almost $3 million over this year so
far.
Biggest pot of the night - at $276 000 - was
on the $300/$600 Pot Limit Omaha tables in a clash
between Sahamies and Antonius, which the latter won.
Other big winners in the nosebleed sessions were
Phil Ivey and Brian Hastings, who left the site up
around $200 000 apiece.
