MARTONAS DROPS ANOTHER $100K
2 October 2009
Cards are not running for the Internet's
mysterious high roller
For the third consecutive night the still unidentified
online high stakes playing using the handle 'martonas'
took a beating on the Full Tilt virtual tables, adding a
relatively mild loss of $100 000 to two consecutive
half-million-dollar debits earlier this week.
MarketPulse estimates that this enigmatic high roller
has seen his bankroll diminish by at least $2.5 million
in recent exchanges, triggering speculation that he/she
may soon follow previous patterns and disappear for a
month or two.
The latest sessions saw a slew of
Internet high rollers in action on the tables, including
Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine,
Gus Hansen, Tom Marchese, Phil Galfond and Ilari
Sahamies.
Ivey recouped recent losses with a good
session on six-max $500/$1 000 No-Limit Hold'em and
Fixed-Limit HORSE, ending the day almost a million
dollars in the black.
Gus Hansen continued to
attract bad karma and was the biggest loser on the day,
dropping $840 000 against pros like Ivey, Benyamine,
Ashby and Sahamies on the Limit HORSE tables.
Second biggest loser of the day was Tom Marchese, who
was down over a half million dollars, mainly to Patrik
Antonius, who was himself given a hard time by Ivey and
Dwan which ensured he finished the session down $50 000
despite his Marchese bonanza.
MarketPulse records
the largest pot of the night at $448 000, which was
taken by Antonius in the course of his demolition of
Marchese.
