2 October 2009
Mystery high roller takes another drubbing
Martonas the mystery man was back for more punishment on
the Full Tilt high stakes cash game tables last night,
and he or she found some of the Internet's best known
nosebleed players present and only to willing to dish it
out.
The unidentified high roller ended the night
down a further half million dollars following a similar
loss on Monday, and his presence appeared to trigger an
avalanche of big-pot action involving names like Patrik
Antonius, Tom Marchese, Ashton "theASHMAN103" Griffin,
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Phil Ivey.
Over
$6.1 million was wagered in the top 25 pots alone,
according to statistics from MarketPulse.
Antonius was among the most successful in the session,
taking one massive $496 023 pot off Marchese, who ended
the evening about $100 000 in the red. Player 'Pokerbluffs'
also had a good night, leaving the virtual tables up
around $488 000.
MarketPulse reports that some of
the most exciting action of the night was the
$500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha heads up clashes between
Sahamies and Ivey, which saw huge pots changing hands
and resulted in Ivey finishing the session down $150
000, whilst over the entire evening Sahamies profited by
some $ 230 000.
Other than Martonas, the night's
biggest losses were sustained by Ashton Griffin, who
went down $480 000 in NHLE games.
