TENG CLINCHES EIGHTH LEG OF GUKPT
24 October 2008
23-year-old online poker pro comes from behind to
win heads up
Having survived an entry field of 226 players and a
tough final table, Brit online poker pro Andy Teng (23)
found himself at an almost five-to-one chip disadvantage
going into the heads up with expert opponent Jamie Brown
this week as the eighth leg of Blue Square's Grosvenor
UK Poker Tour came to an end at G Casino on the Isle of
Thanet.
Unfazed by the 1.4 million gap between his stack and his
opponent's, Teng settled in to a noteworthy comeback
over the next two hours that saw him triumph in the main
event, collecting a winner's cheque worth GBP 68 380.
Brown, who had put on an entertaining and skilled
display of poker in the heads up, had to be content with
his secons placing payday of GBP 39 550.
The Isle of Thanet event brings the series almost to its
conclusion for this year - November 13 will see the
start of the ninth leg in the coastal resort of
Blackpool, and that will be followed by the grand final
in London commencing November 20. The Champion of
Champions tournament follows that on December 4, where
winners of all the GUKPT events this year will have an
opportunity to battle it out in a GBP 75 000 NLHE
competition at the G-Casino in Luton.
