STILL NO '60 MINUTES'
24 October 2008
UltimateBet and Absolute Poker program further
delayed
Poker fans looking forward to the reported expose of
poker scandals on the popular investigative television
program "60 Minutes" will have to be patient for a
little longer - reports this week suggest that the
scheduled screening for October 26 has been delayed.
Although no official information has been made
available, the speculation is that November 9 may be the
new date, but with the economic crisis and presidential
elections currently capturing the public imagination
even this date could be re-scheduled. On the other hand,
there would be few more topical slots than November,
which sees the final table of the 2008 World Series of
Poker playing out to extensive television coverage of
big money, big poker and big personalities.
Poker News reports that among those industry people
interviewed for the program are Mike Sexton, Greg Raymer,
Linda Johnson, Gary Wise, together with online
poker-forum detectives Serge Ravitch, Michael Josem and
Todd Witteles, who were involved in aspects of a player
investigation into unusual circumstances at UltimateBet
and Absolute Poker.
Poker News also advises that the Washington Post will
publish a detailed piece on online poker, possibly
accompanied by a call for regulation, on November 9th.
