Austrian sportsbook expands into the Honda
MotoGP
The Malta subsidiary of Austrian online sportsbook
operator Interwetten will be the new sponsor for the
Honda MotoGP motorcycle racing team for the 2010 season.
Expanding its successful partnership projects in the
past in the 125cc and 250cc racing classes, the company
has signed up 250cc world champion Hiroshi Aoyama as a
rider for 2010. Daniel Epp will manage the team.
“Interwetten is one of the most modern betting providers
in Europe,” said Wolfgang Fabian, chief executive
officer.
“Our dynamic innovation should also be
reflected in our commitment to motorsports. Just like
Interwetten, MotoGP stands for spectacular action,
first-class sports and excitement until the last corner.
“Interwetten markets itself in countries such as
Spain and Greece and also in Germany and Switzerland
and, therefore, MotoGP is the ideal platform to increase
the popularity of our brand in these countries.”
Interwetten relaunched its sportsbetting website at
Interwetten.com in the Spring and revealed that it would
also partner with Thomas Luthi next year for its
Interwetten Moto2 team.
“We want to support
Hiroshi in gaining experience in MotoGP and to establish
ourselves together in the premier class,” said Epp.
“With Thomas Luthi, Interwetten made its first steps
in the motorsports World Championship and was very
successful. Especially in Switzerland, we are profiting
enormously from Thomas’ popularity and image.”
