ANOTHER MILLION DOLLAR ONLINE POKER POT
27 November 2009
Ivey and Isildur1 almost break another record
Saturday's world record online poker pot of $1.356
million generated by Isildur1 and Patrik Antonius (see
previous InfoPowa report) was almost eclipsed Sunday
night in another Isildur1 vs. Phil Ivey clash.
The night's session started when Tom Dwan and Isildur1
met on the Internet nosebleed tables at Full Tilt Poker
in a confrontation that saw Isildur1's aggressive and
utterly fearless style of play beat down Dwan, who
eventually retired after losing $770 000. Speculation
that Isildur1's bankroll must have been severely dented
in earlier clashes with top players seemed not to figure
in the Swedish player's strategy at all.
Isildur1
then moved on to confront Phil Ivey on the $500/$1 000
No-Limit Hold'em tables, where the two battled it out
for 1 431 hands, with Ivey up $900 000, after which play
switched to Pot Limit Omaha.
Ivey seemed to be
in control until the duo got into a pot that was
eventually worth $1.1 million - the second largest ever
- which Isildur1 took to reverse Ivey's fortunes,
although ice-cool Ivey still left the heads up with a
$337 000 profit.
Overall, thanks mainly to his
winnings from Dwan, Isildur1 was up more than $430 000
on the night, ameliorating some of his earlier losses.
The independent statistics site MarketPulse points
out that Isildur1, apart from setting the Internet
alight with his high stakes hubris, has now been a
particpant in all of the top ten largest online poker
pots ever...and all over the past week!
