WSOP MAIN EVENT HEADS UP DECIDED (Update)
13 November 2009
It's a Moon vs. Cada final. Two survivors
from an original field of 6 494
The 2009 World Series of Poker main event heads up on
Monday will be between Darvin Moon and Joe Cada.
Sometime before 5am Sunday morning local time the
audacious Frenchman Antoine Saout ended his remarkable
and at times wildly exciting main event bid when he was
taken out in third place for a take-home of $3,479,670
by Cada. It ended a long day of 17.5 hours on the final
table and at hand #276 it overtook last year's final
hands played including the heads up.
Maryland
logger Moon's day has been a roller coaster from his
chip lead start on almost 60.0 million that fell all the
way to 30 million at one point thanks to some pretty
strange decisions (see previous InfoPowa report) but
he's still there with one opponent to beat in Cada.
That could be a tough call. Joe Cada has also
provided his large contingent of supporters with plenty
to cheer for with some very daring double ups. That saw
him drive his way up the chip counts and into the heads
up with a huge lead over his opponent at 135 950 000 vs.
Moon's 58 850 000.
When we last reported
Begleiter had been busted out in sixth place at hand #
187. He was followed at hand # 236 by Jeff Shulman in
fifth place for a payday of $1,953,452, taken out by
Saout and solving his dilemma about what he would do
with the WSOP bracelet if he won!
Eric Buchman
had looked like a good bet to win the event at various
stages, but he fell in 4th position for $2,502,890 at
hand #271, another Moon victim. Buchman's fate was
probably sealed at hand #264 when he was knocked down to
a mere 10 million chips after a successful and massive
double-up on him by Saout.
Now comes the wait
until Monday to see who wins the main prize; there are
predictions that with a massive chip lead, Cada will
make short work of Moon...but this is poker, and
anything can happen!
