O'Neill to step down on last day of 2007
One of the most experienced businessmen on the Rank plc
board of directors is to step down at the end of 2007
after three years of service, the London-listed gambling
company announced this week.
Non-Executive Director Dr. Brendan O'Neill (58) will be
stepping down on December 31, 2007 after three years of
service, having joined the board in October 2004. Prior
to accepting a directorship at Rank, Dr. O'Neill was
Chief Executive Officer and director of Imperial
Chemical Industries plc and has held numerous senior
positions at Guinness plc, including Chief Executive of
Guinness Brewing Worldwide Ltd, Managing Director
International Region of United Distillers, and Director
of Financial Control.
He also held positions at HSBC Holdings plc, BICC plc
and the Ford Motor Company. Dr. O'Neill is Chairman of
RAC Pension Trustees Limited and a non-executive
director of Aegis Group plc, Tyco International Ltd,
Watson Wyatt Worldwide Inc. and of Endurance Speciality
Holdings Limited, a Bermudan-based insurance company.
Dr. O'Neill has an M.A. from the University of Cambridge
and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of East
Anglia, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of
Management Accountants (U.K.).
