State monopoly's charity donation impacts bottom
line
The Greek government's state gambling monopoly OPAP
showed its charitable side this year with a donation of
Euro 25 million to victims of the wild fires that
ravaged the countryside this summer.
The donation is revealed in the company's latest third
quarter results which reported a 12 percent fall net
profits to Euro 112.1 million, which it attributed to
the one-off donation to victims of the recent wild
fires.
Excluding the donation, net profit in the quarter rose
2.8 percent to Euro 130.8 million.
