Three Internet cafes raided and 18 arrests made
Last Friday was not a good day for three Internet cafe
owners in Singapore, reports News Channel Asia. The
venues were raided by local police and found to be
offering illegal online gambling.
A total of 15 men and three women were arrested in the
raids which took place at Internet cafes located along
Geylang Road, Lorong 17 and Lorong 18. Following initial
investigations, 11 of the 18 people arrested have been
released. The remaining seven people will face charges
in court under the Common Gaming Houses Act.
During a three-hour operation, 84 computers, 21 fruit
machines and cash in excess of $20 000 were seized.
