INDISCRETION RULES....AND IT'S NOT O.K.
16 November 2007
Why would a US online gambler want to prejudice
payment systems?
Dummy of the week award has to go to a US player at the
Full Tilt Poker site, who very obligingly told a
television investigative reporter everything he could
about credit card workarounds in order to make deposits
at online gambling sites.
Mystified players in the US were this week asking why a
fellow online gambler would want to compromise systems
that enable American Internet players to pursue their
pastime of choice in spite of the Unlawful Internet
Gambling Enforcement Act, which tries to prevent them
doing so by banning financial transactions with online
gambling companies, but does not make online gambling
per se an offence.
Was it the result of a dispute with an online gambling
company? Perhaps a braggart showing off his or her
knowledge or someone in their cups who did not stop to
consider the inconvenience that such indiscretions can
cause?
Not thoughtful or helpful, whatever the reason.
