WPT LAUNCHES NEXT MOBILE POKER GAME
2 November 2007
High hopes for sequel to WPT Texas Hold 'Em
Gaming software developer Hands-On Mobile, Inc. and WPT
Enterprises, Inc. have launched a sequel to the popular
mobile multiplayer poker game WPT Texas Hold 'Em.
Billed as 'the most advanced mobile game in the world
today,' WPT Texas Hold 'Em 2 brings more to the table
than ever before, the developers claim. Revolutionary
new features include unprecedented web-to-wireless
multiplayer, the ability to create private tables and
games, and extraordinary customisation and communication
tools. The game is available on mobile phones worldwide,
including RIM and Windows Mobile devices.
"We are thrilled to continue leveraging the strength of
the World Poker Tour brand and our mobile expertise to
create market-leading products," says Michael Temkin,
chief technology officer and Executive Vice President
Operations at Hands-On. "Together, we bring
cutting-edge, connected games to consumers throughout
the world. With integrated mobile and online gameplay,
poker fans have the ability to play WPT Texas Hold 'Em 2
against anyone, anywhere.
"Setting new standards in convergence and community
features, WPT Texas Hold 'Em 2 lets players play alone
in single-player mode, live with other players at public
tables, or create their own private tables to play with
their friends or family. Customizable avatars and
advanced communication features like chat, instant
messaging lists, and regular multiplayer tournaments
increase the interaction and community between all
players," he said.
The sequel builds on the success of WPT Texas Hold 'Em,
which racked up more than 6 million downloads worldwide
and hundreds of thousands of hands played weekly,
becoming a consistently top seller across major carriers
worldwide.
Levi Buchanan, editor of IGN Wireless gives the new game
a top rating: "I cannot imagine a single player having
any regrets about making this smart download. WPT Texas
Hold 'Em 2 is an authentic poker game that will satisfy
newcomers and card sharks alike. The single-player poker
game is good - it's full of options and solid content.
But the star is the web-to-wireless mode which
represents a monster step forward not just for mobile
poker, but mobile games in general."
WPT founder and head honcho Steve Lipscomb says his
company expects to dramatically grow the size of the
mobile and online freeplay poker playing audience. "With
exciting new products like WPT Texas Hold 'Em 2, we
continue to work together to bring authentic, WPT-caliber
poker to fans and players all over the world, anytime,
anyplace, anywhere."
