59 computers seized in latest police action
The Malaysian police maintained their active drive
against illegal gambling this week with further raids in
the Prangin area Monday, reports the Bernama press
agency.
Police confiscated 59 computerised
gambling machines from four premises engaged in illegal
gambling activities in a supermarket, a spokesman
revealed.
State CID deputy chief, ACP Mohd. Nasir
Salleh said one of the premises was disguised as an
Internet cafe and three others as entertainment centres
on the fifth floor of the supermarket.
"Following
a public tip-off, six policemen raided these premises at
4pm, and seized 59 gambling machines and 24 unlicensed
video arcade games," he told reporters.
He added
police also arrested 11 gamblers and four employees,
aged between 20 and 30, at the premises.
