HOW TO WIN $2 MILLION IN TWO MONTHS
22 May 2009
New reality television show will appeal to
pokerheads
Online and live poker fans alike can look forward to an
absorbing new poker series on US cable television come
August 2009.
Cable operator G4's new show "2
Months, $2 Million" is expected to debut with a new
concept that follows the progress of four poker players
competing to win $2 million collectively in two months.
The series will be comprised of 10 x 30 minute programs
and will be put together by Park Slope Promotions.
Laura Civiello, Vice President of Development for
G4, says the series will appeal especially to the 18 to
34 year old poker-playing demographic that aspires to
the exciting lifestyle the series portrays.
All
four players selected for the series are accommplished
Internet players who have won significant amounts of
money playing poker. Jason “pr1nnyraid” Rosenkrantz,
Brian “Flawless_Victory” Roberts, Emil “whitelime”
Patel, and Dani “Ansky” Stern will be wagering their own
money to ensure the right levels of tension, excitement
and focus.
G4 has done its homework on the
concept, holding focus groups with its viewers to assess
the likely levels of interest. Civiello revealed that
the “high risk, high reward” element appealed especially
to the substantial young male demographic in the G4
audience, which is accessed across 65 million households
in the United States.
“We’re definitely aiming at
the guys who are plugged in," said Civiello. "This is
the first generation that has grown up with the
Internet. It’s changed the way they’ve socialized.
Culturally, it gives them a new way of looking at
things.”
G4 is owned by the Los Angeles-based
media group Comcast, which includes E!, The Style
Network, and FEARnet among kits top offerings.
