Zynga proof that social networking is a major draw for Internet users
 

The growth of the social networking or Web 2.0 phenomenon was again illustrated this week by numbers from the Zynga.com social games developer, which reported that it is now seeing 10 million daily active users across its games.

Since the company's launch in January 2008, Zynga has become the top Facebook application developer and the leading social games developer across all social networking platforms.

According to AllFacebook and AppData, last month Zynga became the top application developer on Facebook and leads with an impressive 40 819 426 monthly active users on AllFacebook and 40 483 500 monthly active users on AppData. The company's popularity continues to experience substantial growth across many of its most popular games such as Texas Hold'Em Poker, Mafia Wars, YoVille and Scramble.

Zynga CEO Mark Pincus commented: "To think that a city the size of London is playing our games on a daily basis is incredible. The momentum we're seeing indicates that the social gaming space is as significant as we expected it to be and that our games are touching the lives of people all over the world."
