Top thespian to take the lead role in “Casino
Jack”
A name that hit the headlines three years ago on
allegations of unethical Washington lobbying for land
and online gambling, causing acute embarrassment in some
political circles, was back this week in the
entertainment publication Variety.
Jack
Abramoff’s high-powered lobbying exploits were cited by
many anti-online gambling politicians seeking to
strengthen bans on the pastime, and the lobbyist’s
interesting career is the subject of a new movie
entitled “Casino Jack” based on a true-story script by
Norman Snider.
Top actor Kevin Spacey, who
appeared in another gambling-themed thriller in the
movie ‘21’, has signed to take the role of Abramoff,
whose bribery schemes and fraudulent dealings with
Indian casinos ultimately landed him in prison.
Filming begins in Toronto this month, and once the
production is complete Hannibal Pictures will handle
worldwide sales, excluding North America, and will sell
the film at the Cannes Film Festival.
