Celebs and poker aces deliver for charity at
PKR Poker event
Kudos to online poker website PKR.com, which this week
continued the tradition of gamblers supporting charities
with a star-studded poker tournament in the UK.
Celebrities and poker stars alike turned out for the
ninth annual Omar Sharif One to One PKR poker tournament
over the weekend, which was won by comedian Norman
Pace’s wife Beverley.
Actor and pro poker
player, Michael Greco finished second, and actor Dexter
Fletcher took third.
The poker ace contingent
included Roland de Wolfe, Donnacha O’Dea and Kara Scott.
The buy-in of GBP 365 for the event included a
champagne reception and represented the cost of
sponsoring a child for one year at GBP 1 per day. GBP
100 000 was raised by the tournament and auction,
enabling the One to One Children’s Fund to help over a
thousand children and their families affected by
HIV/AIDs in Africa.
