JAXX BOSS MOVES TO PAGEBET

Irvine in new position as head of remote betting
for UK bookie firm
The man who launched the Fluxx AG subsidiary Jaxx online
sportsbetting in the UK, Mark Irvine is on the move
again, reportedly as director of remote betting with the
independent UK bookie group Pagebet. Irvine was
previously with Bet365 before being appointed m.d. of
Jaxx last year.
The Journal quotes Irvine as predicting that Internet
betting will command the lion's share of the firm's
business within the next 7 years. His appointment is
apparently part of a major expansion strategy by the
Durham-based group, which currently has a GBP 10 million
annual turnover.
Irvine told The Journal: “I cut my teeth on internet
gaming. I have been there almost from the very
beginning. I would say over the next five to seven years
this will be the biggest part of the business.
“There is a new age of customers who are internet
literate. They were born with the internet. There is
this whole new generation.”
His plans include developing and improving the company's
recently launched websites, securing better search
engine positioning and linking to other relevant
websites, at the same time expanding the current product
line with additions such as online casino, poker and
bingo, and building up the affiliate network.
Irvine is bullish on the future, telling The Journal:
"The gambler’s desire to win big from a small stake,
especially during tough economic times, will help the
betting business to weather the credit crunch. Nothing
is recession proof and nothing is inflation proof but
betting and gaming as an industry has never suffered a
particular slowdown.
