WOMEN'S POKER MAG CHANGES HANDS
16 May 2008
Growing numbers of women players make "Woman Poker
Player" an attractive buy
Maryann Morrison's "Woman Poker Player" print magazine
has been acquired by the Bluff Media group for an
undisclosed consideration.
Explaining the sale, Morrison said this week: "Woman
Poker Player magazine was founded as a vehicle for the
encouragement of women to play poker. At that time women
were only representing about ten percent of live
players, and this is no longer the case. We all know
women are fierce poker players and have substantially
grown in numbers over the past two years. It is not a
progressive step for women to have segregation of any
kind."
Bluff Media sees the acquisition as a strong move that
further strengthens its position as a top poker
magazine.
"We're very happy to accept Woman Poker Player's readers
into the Bluff community," said Eric Morris,
co-president and publisher of Bluff Media. "As women are
beginning to make up a larger percentage of the overall
player base it's important that our magazine properly
reflects this and we feel that this move does just
that."
While subscribers to Woman Poker Player magazine will
now receive Bluff Magazine on a monthly basis the
website, Woman Poker Player.com, will continue to
provide readers with the quality content they've come to
expect.
"I am pleased that Bluff Media has agreed to continue
servicing our subscribers. Bluff offers excellent poker
education for all poker players, and is a valuable
resource in the poker community," said Morrison.
