GERMANY'S JUNG TAKES DOWN THE PARTY POKER MILLION VI

Exciting final table aboard cruise liner

The cruise liner MSC Poesia proved a pleasant venue this week for the final table of the Party Poker Million VI tournament and its winner, Alexander Jung, a 25 year old math student from Berlin. The German player beat an initial field of 171 to enter the final nine, and then outplayed them all to take the $358 280 main prize and the beautifully crafted glass trophy.

Cruising the indigo blue seas between Croatia and Venice, the players had the right setting - but little opportunity - to relax in some tense and entertaining poker throughout the event as players vyed for the biggest cut of the $1 326 960 prize-pool. Jung and fellow German player Dominick Stopka held significant chip leads around 326 000 lead going into final table play, well ahead of nearest rival Mika Paasonen of Finland on 236 000.

Other final table players included 2008 PartyPoker Late Night Poker champ Andreas Jorbeck of Sweden, Johannes Strassmann (Germany), Kenneth Gregersen (Denmark), Ray Estall (Britain), Cory Albertson (United States) and Peter Steinlesburger (Austria)

The climax of the tournament was the heads-up between the two German chip leaders, who maintained their dominance throughout the final to face-off in the deciding confrontation. And it was Alexander Jung who prevailed, taking this year's title and leaving opponent Dominick Stopka with a second place check for $225 585.

Six figure paydays extended down to the 4th finisher, and the first man eliminated from the final table still picked up a very useful $31 845.

Previous winners of the PartyPoker.com Million include Kathy Liebert, Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Michael Gracz and Mike Schneider.

30 countries were represented in the main event with a healthy percentage of online qualifiers who had earlier won PartyPoker.com Million VI packages worth $12 000, comprising $8,200 buy-in for the no limit texas hold’em main event, $2 700 for the accommodation and the cruise and $1 100 spending money.
