Gambling interest the core in new networking website


A Californian company has launched a gambling-dedicated social networking website at MyBetPlace.com, entering the burgeoning field of Web 2.0 community interaction.

The first version of the service was released to the public this week and will pave the way for social networks to come, say the owners.

CEO Steve Laut claims that the website is a legal, friendly wagering social website where embers can form groups and make friendly wagers between group members, group to group, or member to member. Facilities are provided for members to share photos, videos, music and discussions.

MyBetPlace.com also encourages members to voice their preferences on music (mybetbands) and people (mybetpets).

Laut says he wants the site to appeal to all ages and have features that target the different demographics.

"Unlike online casinos and sportsbooks, you can't lose any money at MyBetPlace.com," he says. "If you want to sell your music or products, MyBetPlace.com allows you to do so from your personal web pages. MyBetPlace.com also makes it easy to buy your friends and relatives exactly what they want by featuring personal wish lists."

Chief Operating Officer Robert Cortes promises upgrades as the website develops: "...there are plans for many, many upgrades that will continue as the website matures. We plan on listening to what the users want, what they like and what they don't like," he said.
