NETPLAY ON THE MOVE AGAIN
9 May 2008
Sky 848 acquired for new interactive television
blackjack operations
Martin Higginson, the energetic entrepreneur and CEO of
the UK interactive television gambling firm NetPlay made
another shrewd move this week, acquiring Sky Channel 848
as a stablemate for the already purchased 847. The new
channel will be used for the launch of the company's new
blackjack product "Live BlackJack," scheduled to air at
the end of this (May) month.
A statement from the company said the deal was agreed
with previous owners Hollywood TV Ltd for a
consideration of GBP 475 000, to be funded with 2.375
million NetPlay shares at 20 pence each.
“This is another key milestone in the evolution of our
business," said Higginson. "Blackjack is the most
popular game in traditional casinos and as such it was a
natural progression for us to launch a “live” TV version
of this popular game. Having a dedicated channel next
door to our successful “Live Roulette” channel on Sky
847 makes perfect sense, allowing our customers to
easily flick between channels depending on which game
they want to play."
