Zmora becomes deputy chairman, Weizer takes over as CEO

Online gambling games developer and turnkey provider Playtech has a new chief executive officer as the present incumbent, Avigur Zmora moves up to the deputy chairman slot, and Mor Weizer takes over as CEO.

In a company statement this week Playtech revealed that Weizer is a qualified chartered accountant and has been a senior operational manager within the group for the past two years, during which time he has managed ongoing customer relations, product delivery and technical support as Chief Executive Officer of Techplay Marketing Ltd.

He joined the Playtech group in July 2005, when his responsibilities included overseeing Playtech's licensee relationship management, product management for new licensees and the company's marketing activities.

Prior to joining the Playtech Group, Weizer worked for Oracle for over four years, initially as a development consultant and then as a product manager, creating sales and consulting channels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before this, he worked in a variety of roles, including as an auditor and financial consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

"In this regard, the company has created this new Executive Deputy Chairman position with responsibility for business development across all regulated territories which will be taken up by Avigur who has steered the company through its successful IPO and to the position it enjoys today as a world leading international designer, developer and licensor of software to the gaming industry.

"His new role will ensure that the company continues to reap the rewards of his extensive industry knowledge and entrepreneurial skills. I am pleased to welcome Mor Weizer. As Playtech's customer base continues to grow and increasingly includes large multinational clients it is essential that the Chief Executive has a strong experience of managing complex multi-dimensional client relationships and Mor is ideally suited to that role. In light of the significant advances made in the last year under the direction of Avigur, one of the principal roles of the Chief Executive is now on cementing these advances while continuing to develop the business."
