Canuck provider spreads the news and supports
IGREA
Calgary-based online gambling turnkey provider Chartwell
Technology has issued an update on its activities,
dealing with management changes, the Barney Frank bill,
new games and the completion of the Poker Nexus deal.
CFO and operations director Dale Kearns has departed the
company and his responsibilities have been taken over by
the company's former controller, Alan Richter. Richter
is a chartered accountant and prior to joining Chartwell
worked for an Ottawa software company as VP Finance.
Senior director Rene Carrier has resigned from the board
due to travel and professional demands associated with
his active involvement in the international minerals
exploration industry, and on the poker front Peter van
Tuyl as been appointed Manager, Poker Operations,
responsible for the development and management of the
PokerNexus community of independent Chartwell licensees.
Chartwell confirms that it has completed the acquisition
of the of the Chartwell powered poker community.
PokerNexus is a community of independent poker operators
that was previously managed by a private company, Elite
Club Management Pte. Ltd. ("ECM"). The acquisition
included hardware infrastructure, software and
management systems together with a gross rake share
previously owned by ECM (see previous InfoPowa report).
Chartwell has developed a unique suite of European card
games in both download and no-download flash format
which can be added to any gaming site. The company's new
card room offering is a profitable and simple gaming
content addition to any existing sportsbook, casino or
poker site and provides the operator with the ability
and tools to create their own unique promotional events.
Two new European focused card games have been released
by the company. Amerikana and Telesina are Stud variants
using 32 cards instead of a standard 52 card deck. Each
game has slight rule differences which makes for greater
excitement and entertainment for the player, the company
claims. Amerikana and Telesina join the popular 32 Card
Poker as part of the full poker gaming suite on the
PokerNexus network. The games are all available in both
Flash and download versions.
Chartwell uses the update to describe and support the
Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act
launched this week by the chairman of the House
Financial Services Committee, Barney Frank. The bill
seeks to introduce regulation and licencing for online
gambling in the United States.
A company spokesman said, "Chartwell only licenses its
software to licensees who operate in regulated
environments and views this proposed legislation as a
move in the right direction with respect to Internet
gaming licensing and regulation in the United States."
