IS MANSION MOVING TO PLAYTECH?

Betting group has a big investment in online poker
to care for
The millions of dollars that gambling group Mansion has
been investing in building its online poker presence is
becoming almost legendary, but is it paying off in terms
of player liquidity for the standalone?
Apparently not, to judge by a report in E Gaming Review
this week, which approached Mansion for confirmation of
unsourced rumours that it is about to move on to the
Playtech iPoker Network with effect from the end of
June. When approached, neither Playtech nor Mansion
would comment.
Asked to comment on the story by EGR, a spokesperson
said: “This is not a rumour I can substantiate. There
have been a number of network providers who have come
forward offering their services, but it is not something
I can comment on.”
In the past few years Mansion has put millions into
promoting its online gambling interests, including over
$5 million on big-money daily tournaments and a reported
GBP 34 million on a four-year sponsorship deal with
Tottenham football club and the Mansion Pokerdome in Las
Vegas.
The company has presumably been hit as hard as its
opposition by its enforced withdrawal from the USA on
the heels of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act, which must have seriously depleted its player base.
Other discouraging signs are Mansion's recent decision
to shut down its sportsbook business, re-routing
clientele to the Mansion sports-betting exchange.
