FULL TILT'S BIGGER PRIZE POOL PACKS 'EM IN
20 March 2009
Million dollar guaranteed prize pools deliver
six figure winner's prizes
Full Tilt Poker management's decision to boost the
guarantee on the prize pool for its main weekend million
dollar tourney was vindicated by big player turnouts
last weekend, with "grimmy101" taking home an impressive
$216 000 as the winner - a good return on the $500+$35
buy-in.
2 355 entrants registered for the event,
inluding many Internet poker hotshots, but the final
table was eventually decided as Chris "CzarBushov" Bush
with 3 724 101 as chipleader, grimmy101 (1 650 367),
GhostRideIt (1 217 124), BRO20 (1 135 740), P0K3RDUUDE
(1 125 375), Charlie Jean (947 230), vtlaxer09 (732
433), ChipConvergence (649 561) and brendand00 (593
069).
When third placed Chris "CzarBushov" Bush
was eliminated by grimmy101 during the 40 000 / 80 000/
10 000 level it set the scene for a short, four hand
heads up between grimmy101 in the lead and Charlie Jean
that ended in a victory for the former and a first prize
check for $216 012. Charlie Jean's second placing prize
of $132 586 made his time and trouble worthwhile.
Over at PokerStars, the Sunday Million carried a
boosted prize pool guarantee of $1.5 million (see
previous InfoPowa report) and attracted an entry field
of 8 001, with the final table consisting of bayleesmom
in the chip lead on 17 209 285, over 4 million ahead of
the neatest opponent, iceman1278 (13 610 483) followed
by Juan Maceiras "vietcong01" Barros (13 521 196), Jamie
"TheCronic420" Rosen (9 472 220), TJ "WhatArunAA"
Slifka (7 955 854), JLande (6 975 660), Simon
"pokerbrat13" Charette (5 343 928) kendog39 (2 967 891)
and Brendan42 (2 953 483).
Negotiations for a
deal took place when the table reached its three
surviving players, Brendan42, iceman1278 and Jamie
"TheCronic420" Rosen, but were unsuccessful , and
shortly after this Brendan42 was eliminated in third
spot by Rosen to set-up a heads up between iceman and
Rosen, with the latter holding a 2 to 1 chip lead.
However, it wasn't enough to dominate a determined
and skilled iceman1278, who won the game convincingly at
the 500 000 / 1 000 000 / 100 000 level, claiming the
main prize of $196 024.40 and leaving Rosen with a
second placing check for $132 176.52.
