POKER LOCO GOING CRAZY
6 March 2009
Record growth announced by online poker site
The Malta licensed online poker operation Poker Loco.com
is shrugging off the global recession and growing like
topsy, according to its latest numbers.
During
2008 the website reported record growth of over 300 000
new registered players, making the total number of
players on the company's books pass the 600 000 mark,
although the report does not differentiate between
active and dormant, or real money and free-play players.
"PokerLoco is currently growing with between
20-25 000 new players every month of which 65 percent
come from South America," a press release from the
company crows.
"It is very encouraging to see the
inflow of new players from South America. With our newly
launched payment solutions we feel very comfortable that
we will be successful in converting the registered
players into real money players," says Stefan Mahlstein,
chairman of Homerun Gaming Ventures Ltd which owns the
site.
PokerLoco started its business in February
2006 (see previous InfoPowa report). Although the
company initially focused on Scandinavia the South
American markets have been growing quickly and PokerLoco
is now actively looking for strategic partnerships in
the region in order to enhance its present strong
positioning.
"We quickly noticed a very high
inflow of South American players and therefore we
grabbed the opportunity to further develop these
markets," Mahlstein reveals. "Still being a fairly small
player in the market we would benefit from partnering
with a larger media or entertainment company in the
region."
PokerLoco Nordic S.A. is a subsidiary to
the Swedish and British owned company Homerun Gaming
Ventures Ltd.
