Victory on the second hand in tense heads up
The first German Open poker championship on the European
Poker Tour held in Dortmund this week was won by
Norwegian player Andreas Hoivold when he defeated
Italy's Cristiano Bianco in a tense, two hand heads-up
with the main prize of Euro 672 000 at stake.
Held at the Casino Hohenysburg in Dortmund, this is the
second time a Norwegian has won a title in season 3 of
the European Poker Tour; Bjorn-Erik Glenne won Euro 691
000 in the Barcelona event.
The Euro 5 000 buy-in No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament
had been fully sold out for the past two weeks, with an
entry field of 500 players generating a prizepool of
Euro 2.35 million. Many of the players won seats in
online poker satellite competitions.
