HYMAN TAKES WYNN CLASSIC MAIN PRIZE
16 March 2007
Three quarters of a million in winner's prize
money
Californian Zachary Hyman took the inaugural Wynn Poker
Classic this week, picking up an enormous $749 033 check
in his first major win after beating out a field of 198
entrants, many of them big names in professional poker.
The $10 000 +$200 Main Event reached final table status
after three tough days of play, and what a table it was
with some of the most experienced and high profile pros
in the game. There was Johnny Chan, Mike "The Mouth"
Matusow, Chris "The Canada Goose" Roos, Michael "The
Grinder" Mizrachi, Chau Giang and Ted Lawson, all among
the nine survivors going after the lion's share of the
tournament's $1 920 600 prize pool.
It all ended in a heads up between Hyman and Ted Lawson,
with the latter taking home $384 120, ahead of third
placed Chris Moore on $192 060 and "The Canada Goose"
Roos on $103 712.
