Famous country singer's "The Gambler" the inspiration for new online poker portal

There's big bucks from the Barona land casino, and the iconic presence of country and western singer Kenny Rogers behind a new online poker site powered by Poker Creations and due for launch next (April) month.

The Rogers presence is strong on the trial site for The Gambler Poker Club currently up on the Internet, showing the country star in Western gear in a decidedly 1880's ambience. Once launched, players will be able to use the site to win prizes and tournament seats at the Barona, and even meet Rogers himself at one of his concerts at the casino.

Poker Creations, a division of Power Play Development Corp. has been chosen to power the US-based operation, which is carefully designed to skirt the legal minefield of US federal and state law.

This week Power Play Devlopment announced the signing of the agreement to develop, host and provide application services to The Gambler Poker Club (TGPC), which has been formed in Los Angeles. The contract calls for Poker Creations to develop and provide hosting and game-management logistics for a site to be launched in early spring 2007. The Club will feature and be themed around Kenny Rogers's iconic character "The Gambler," and will offer players a unique suite of member-benefits.

"Our goal was to build a new type of online poker club for US-based poker players", explained Ron Brody, CEO of TGPC. "We believe that a new generation of US-online poker players will emerge as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 takes hold.

"We selected Poker Creations to power our site after they demonstrated their unique game-engine and service- platform offering". Brody continued. "They allow us to focus on the sales and marketing and handle all the back-office logistics".

"Our CUPID game platform fit perfectly into the business goals of TGPC. Clearly the celebrity status and connection to poker that Mr. Rogers brings, add a unique element to this poker community."

Poker Creations will develop, deploy, host, manage and provide ongoing support for the poker web site and underlying application. The financial terms of the deal were not announced, but include a customer-development project and ongoing monthly fee structure.
