ENGLISH HARBOUR REVERSES OUT OF CANADA
9 March 2007
Affiliate program manager confirms that Canadian
players will no longer be accepted
With Canadian players still trying to work out why they
were banned recently by the Curacao-based VIP group (see
previous InfoPowa report) they were presented with a
similar puzzle this week when sister group English
Harbour followed suit.
In a strangely cack-handed and unprofessional manner,
the group reacted to rumours of its withdrawal rather
than implementing a proper communications plan to inform
all concerned. When the Canadian ban surfaced on an
affiliate website, an affiliate manager from Casino
Coins - the program that handles English Harbour
marketers - commented:
"Yes, it is true... All Casino Coins casinos will no
longer accept Canadian Players. This does not affect US
players in the slightest, however, we have been informed
that we can no longer take players residing in Canada.
"I am very sorry I did not post this information when it
was first told to me. This did come as a shock to me, as
I only found out the day we stopped CDN traffic."
The English Harbour Group includes the following
casinos:
English Harbour
Caribbean Gold
Super Slots
Millionaire
Silver Dollar
These properties, which were spun off for a dollar from
Leisure and Gaming plc after the UIGEA, are all long
established and powered by in-house technology under the
Vegas Technologies brand.
The unprofessional manner in which these bans are being
imposed by the group is astonishing.
On such an important issue as locking out Canadian
players the process should be better planned and
integrated, with firstly emails to players and
affiliates, supported by clear website notices, properly
briefed CSRs and finally public statements explaining
the decision to online media.
