888.COM AND SPIN PALACE THE HIGHEST VISIBLE INTERNET
GAMBLING SITES
19 June 2009
Greenlight research used Google to find most
visible sites for US searchers
The Internet research company Greenlight, which last
week published the results of a visibility survey on
online poker operations (see previous InfoPowa report),
has released similar statistics related to online
casinos.
The firm's findings are based on Google
US first page results from searches using commonly
deployed search terms such as ‘casino’, ‘online casino’,
‘casino games’, ‘online slots’ and 'Internet casino'.
888.COM (70 percent), Spin Palace.com (62
percent) and Mansion group's Casino.com (55 percent)
topped the list as the highest visible casino sites to
American web users, and therefore most search engine
optimised in the Google search engine context, which
attracts 90 percent of Internet searches.
Many
of the names on the list are not operational Internet
casinos but casino information portals.
Skipping
the information portals, Getminted.com came seventh,
scoring 30 percent; followed by Littlewoods Casino.com
(24 percent), Stanley Casino.com (24 percent), William
Hill Casino (13 percent) and Cryptologic's
Intercasino.co.uk (13 percent). The popular 32Red
Casino.com came in at 13th place with 10 percent).
As was the case with Greenlight's online poker study
last week, Wikipedia - the online encyclopaedia - scored
remarkably high, coming in at 5th place on 47 percent
due to link liquidity.
The most popular search
terms typed in by Internet users in search of online
casinos were 'casino' at 59 percent, 'online casino' at
10 percent, 'casino games' at 4 percent, 'online slots'
at 2 percent and 'internet casino' at 1 percent.
