MGM CHIEF RESIGNS FROM AGA
20 June 2008
Time commitments prevent top exec from continuing
Top MGM Mirage executive Terri Lanni, respected for his
support for the potential of online gambling as well as
his experience and talent as a top land casino boss, has
resigned from the board of the American Gaming
Association, a trade association that covers most of the
major gambling groups in the US.
Lanni told the Las Vegas Sun newspaper this week that he
quit the gaming trade group because of time commitments,
not personality or political conflicts.
"I needed time from the AGA to focus on trying to find a
solution to the bigger problems of this state," said
Lanni, whose company will remain a member of the
association and participate in various other committees,
such as one on corporate diversity. "We need to find
some better answers than the one on the table. It's
going to take a lot of my time."
The Sun revealed that the busy exec is also busy
supporting Republican presidential nominee John McCain
as one of the Republican Party's fundraising chairmen in
Nevada.
Lanni and Harrah's Entertainment chief Gary Loveman have
apparently disagreed with each other in debates over
education taxes.
