NEVADA CANCER INSTITUTE IS THIS YEAR'S WSOP CHARITY
6 June 2008
Cancer organisation named for third year running
The organisers of the annual World Series of Poker in
Las Vegas, Harrah's Entertainment, have named the Nevada
Cancer Institute as the official charity of the world's
greatest poker championship for the third consecutive
year.
"Nevada Cancer Institute is a wonderful community
partner for the World Series of Poker," WSOP
commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said in a company
statement. "The work researchers and physicians are
doing at NVCI resonates not only locally, but around the
world, by expanding the field of knowledge about this
disease."
WSOP participants can assist the non-profit charity by
visiting the "Ace's Club" throughout the tournament. The
lounge offers food, beverages, massage and a game room.
All proceeds from admission to the Ace's Club go to
benefit cancer research, education and treatment at NVCI.
"The World Series of Poker brings an excitement and buzz
that enhances the Las Vegas economy every summer," said
Sandra Murdock, president and chief executive officer of
NVCI. "We are thrilled to be a community partner with
the Harrah's organization, and are thankful for their
dedication to the health and future of the community."
