ABSOLUTE BAD BEAT JACKPOT A HIT...AND IT WAS!
29 June 2007
Players quick to take up online poker site's offer
of bad beat relief
The electrons on Absolute Poker.com's email press
release announcing its new Bad Beat Jackpot (see
previous InfoPowa report) were barely dry when five of
the company's online players were recipients of a total
of $78 000 this week.
Barely a day into the initiative, in which Absolute
funded the embryo Bad Beat Jackpot with an initial $100
000, it was hit by the five players...and two days later
it was hit again.
"This is proof that Absolute Poker has taken the lead in
making online poker more lucrative," stated David
Clainer, senior vice president for Absolute Poker.
The first Bad Beat Jackpot was won early last Saturday
morning by a player who lost quad tens to an opponent's
straight flush. In traditional Texas Hold'em, he would
have walked away from the table frustrated, but at a Bad
Beat Jackpot table when a player loses a poker hand
holding four two's (2222) or anything better, he or she
wins the major percentage of the Bad Beat Jackpot. In
this case, it meant nearly $40 000 for his losing hand.
And all poker players who were seated at the table where
the bad beat occurred shared in the rest of the jackpot.
It happened again early this Monday morning when another
player lost four of a kind to another player's king high
straight flush, losing the hand but winning nearly $13
000 by hitting the bad beat jackpot.
