BODOG TO ENTER EUROPEAN MARKET
15 June 2007
Restricted US market triggers the need for wider
horizons
According to reports in eGaming Review this week, the
Antigua-based online gambling and entertainment group
Bodog.com has confirmed it has ambitious plans for a
push into the European market "within months." Asked for
comment by InfoPowa, Bodog PR said that "soft launch"
planning was in progress and that further information
would be made available soon.
The company hopes to launch its poker product in Europe
in the autumn, with a full sportsbook offering to follow
by the end of the year.
Despite the US clampdown on Internet gambling financial
transactions, Bodog and its founder Calvin Ayre have
been at the forefront of the US-facing online gaming
industry, first out of Costa Rica and latterly from the
company’s new hub in Antigua.
In recent years Bodog has increasingly diversified into
TV and music entertainment, and the European launch of
the Bodog gaming products will likely be accompanied by
news of the Bodog Music (Europe) signing of the Wu Tang
Clan.
