MOBILE INTERACTIVITY FOR GSN
8 June 2007
New deal will allow players to compete in real
time in television events
The giant American television network Game Shown Network
(GSN) has inked a deal with Interactive television
technology company Two Way TV which will soon empower
viewers to participate and compete in shows and events
through their mobile communication devices and in real
time.
Due for operational launch later this year, the
technology heralds what GSN calls "advanced
interactivity" and will initially roll out on shows like
High Stakes Poker and World Series of Blackjack.
High Stakes Poker viewers will be dealt a series of
cards on their television screens, and can accept the
cards using SMS messaging to create the best hand,
whilst World Series of Blackjack players can compete
against the onscreen dealer by requesting cards using
their mobile phone.
In both cases, players will be competing against other
mobile contestants in real time. The top 10 performers
will be featured on an onscreen leaderboard.
