TRUIMPH FOR TRAN IN CHAN POKER CLASSIC
1 June 2007
$325 000 payday for poker pro
The inaugural Annual Johnny Chan Poker Classic at the
River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, B.C. ended this
week with a truimph for poker pro Henry Tran and a
winner's prize of $325 000.
By the time Tran sat down for the heads up with Joe
Corbett he was $2 million ahead in chips, and the final
action of the largely pro tournament was brief and
professional through to the final hand, where Tran
challenged Corbett with K-8 against K-6. No help came
for Corbett and Tran took the honours, leaving Corbett
with a consolation second prize of $200 000.
The event was the culmination of a thriller of a
tournament that featured great poker names like the
Johnny Chan himself, Brad "Yukon" Booth, prodigy Jimmy "Gobboboy"
Fricke, Greg "FBT" Mueller and Lacey Jones.
