The big winning weekend online poker tournaments may
make the headlines, but every day of the week similar
and larger amounts of money change hands, largely
unreported, in individual contests taking place across
the major poker networks as players around the planet
battle through final tables to often spectacular heads
up confrontations.
This week InfoPowa happened on a fascinating site
branded High Stakes db.com which provides a window into
these "under the radar" activities by keeping tabs on
what's happening and where.
In a succinct, punchy writing style, the site details
noteworthy matches and the rewards flowing from these
and even includes a final hand animated replay facility
so that readers can reprise the action.
Examples from the site that illustrate the substantial
action taking place online every day include the current
success of online player Brian Townsend (sbrugby) who
this month alone has made a cool $1.6 million in online
competitions at Full Tilt Poker.
High Stakes Database monitored the player over 128 NL
Hold 'Em games in May where his skill earned him $743
000, and in Pot Limit Omaha games where he pocketed a
further $867 000 in 120 sessions. Townsend, who can play
several tables at once online, was especially active and
fortunate on May 25, taking just over an hour to boost
his bank balance by $400 000!
Another player, who hints at his dedication in his
'handle' til_i_collapse, picked up $179 000 on NL Hold 'Em
and $749 000 on PL Omaha over the same period, whilst
player traheho took home over $430 000 over 21 No Limit
sessions but won mainly in just two heads up
confrontations last week
Back on May 17, online poker player LucLongley took down
$382 000 over three NL Hold 'Em sessions where pots
ranged all the way up to $227 000. Some of this player's
action was against the well respected pro David
Benyamine, who's negative online return over the month
of May proves that it's not all good news.
Another famous offline poker name, Patrick Antonius
plays under the handle Luigi66369 and was this month the
winner of one of the biggest ever Texas Hold 'Em NL
hands at Full Tilt Poker when he clashed with player
drrr in a heads up that delivered a massive $375 771
payout.
A visit to the High Stakes Database is well worth the
time and presents the reader with a valuable insight
into the world of seriously big and intense online poker
action.
