GOOD NEWS FOR EVEREST POKER WSOP QUALIFIERS (Update)
17 July 2009
Million dollar bonus boost
When French player Antoine Saout made the final table
for the World Series of Poker Main Event this week it
presented a financial windfall to not only himself, but
to the 51 other players who won sponsored WSOP prizes in
Everest Poker qualifiying tourneys.
Earlier this
year (see previous InfoPowa report) the online poker
subsidiary of the GigaMedia group in Taiwan had
guaranteed the qualifiers that if any one of them
managed to make the final table it would add a bonus of
a million dollars for equal distribution.
25-year-old Saout, who hails from Saint Martin des
Champs in France and was playing his first WSOP, has
made that possible, surviving a packed original entry
field of 6 494 hopefuls to achieve a seat among the
November Nine, who will reconvene November 7th this year
to play for the top spot.
Thanks to Saout's very
competent performance through the eight days of the Main
Event preliminary action, each of the 51 Everest
qualifiers will receive $19 607.
For Saout
himself, his success even thus far represents a great
return on investment; he won his Main Event entry in an
Everest qualifiers for a buy-in of only $50! Besides his
travel and accommodation costs, his return now includes
at least $1.26 million just for making the November
Nine....and the really big money still lies ahead,
including that tantalising first place reward of $8.55
million.
