Major Internet player wins this week include a GBP 1.3 million hit for a GBP2 wager at Mecca Bingo.co.uk, and GBP 114 649 on an 80p stake at Vegas.WilliamHill.com.

In the Mecca Bingo win, a lucky British couple became instant millionaires after placing the maximum five-pound bet on its Clover Rollover progressive jackpot slot.

Barry and Lynsey Mirehouse of Maryport in Cumbria won GBP 1.2 million one evening with a one-pound per line wager. The Clover Rollover jackpot had grown to GBP 1 201 233 before being hit by the couple, who married in 2006.

“I don’t know what we are doing to do with the winnings but we’re trying to keep a low profile,” Lynsey Mirehouse told local newspapers.

“The news is going to travel fast and people will find out about the win but we are trying to keep it to ourselves for now.”

Over at Vegas.WilliamHill.com, the owner of a Chinese takeaway restaurant in the UK has walked away with a jackpot of GBP 114 649 thanks to an 80 pence stake he placed on an online slot at Vegas.WilliamHill.com.

Joe Siuchung Yip from Surrey hit the big win on the exclusive game Vegas.WilliamHill.com game after his 80p spin got him through to the bonus jackpot round.

“I’m used to giving out fortune cookies to others but hadn’t had much luck myself recently so this is brilliant,” Yip told casino management on having his windfall confirmed. “I’m going to pay off some debts and will probably replace my old car but it hasn’t quite sunk in that I’ll have money left after that.”
