ONLINE POKER STILL DELIVERING MAJOR PAYOUTS
25 July 2008
Sunday tournaments deliver WSOP-sized paydays to
Internet aces
The huge six figure payouts associated with annual
events like the World Series of Poker continue to be
rivalled every week by major Internet tournaments at
websites like PokerStars.com, and last weekend was no
exception.
Online player 'Sam66' who lives in Switzerland won the
regular Sunday Million tournament and pocketed a
handsome check for almost $210 000 after defeating rival
‘Shantaram’ from France in an exciting heads up. The
French player was also well rewarded, collecting a
payout for his second placing of $141,718.
PokerStars.com doubled the guarantee for its weekly
competition two weeks ago and, as a result, saw its
largest-ever field and prize pool. The weekend's
tournament saw 8 589 entrants and a prize pool of $1 717
800, delivering cashes to 1 233 of the entrants.
Online player ‘MrMuck1976’ from Norway finished in third
spot for $95 337 followed by Dutch player ‘Rubenrtv’ for
$77 301 and ‘Pepperdiablo’ from the UK for $60 123.
