25 July 2008
63-year-old accused of running a $57 million
Internet sportsbetting ring
Details were still limited as InfoPowa went to press,
but CBS is reporting the arraignment of central New York
resident George Badigan (63) on Internet sportsbetting
charges involving $57 million.
Badigan appeared before an Albany County Court Tuesday,
accused of running a $57 million Internet sports betting
ring from Syracuse to Albany. The indictment lists 25
counts of illegal gambling.
The District Attorney's office for Albany said that
Badigan has been described as a 'gambling king pin' of
Central New York, and that he ran the ring in this area
alongside a Latham man.
