466 SURVIVE DAY 2A AT WSOP MAIN EVENT (Update)
11 July 2008
And Shaedlich remains on top of the pile
When Day 2A in the World Series of Poker Main Event
heats started (see previous InfoPowa reports) there were
1 251 survivors from the Day 1A and 1B action taking
their seats at the tables at the Rio in Las Vegas...by
days end only 466 have made it through to Day 3.
A special education teacher from Cleveland, Brian
Schaedlich ended the day as chip leader with just over
800 000, comfortably ahead of his nearest rival, Hunter
Frey who was on 397 000. Harvard PhD student and Full
Tilt Poker player Brandon Adams, who had started the day
second in chip counts, was still among the top ten chip
leaders with 353 600.
Day 2A survivors included Robert Mizrachi, Darrel

but still in the event are John Duthie, Barney Boatman

ambassador Shane Warne survived the day, too.
Not so fortunate were two former Main Event champions,
Scotty Nguyen and Robert Varkonyi, who were both
eliminated, leaving seven former Main Event champs still
in action: Jerry Yang, Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth,
Carlos Mortensen, Brad Daugherty, Chris Moneymaker and
Joe Hachem.
Day 2B is in progress with a starter field of 2 378
players from the Day 1C and 1D heats seated at 240
tables, all facing the prospect of five tough levels of
play ahead.

The attrition rate has been high in the ten hours of
play thus far, and as we went to press only a thousand
players remained, with the chip lead held by Peter
Biebel on $380 000 chased by Mohamad Kowssarie on $340
000. Shannon Elizabeth, Bill Chen, John Juanda, Clonie
Gowen, Matt Savage, defending champion Jerry Yang, Eric
Herschler and Danny Wong were among those eliminated.
Still in it to win it are Mike Matusow, Cliff Josephy,
Carlos Mortensen, David Singer, Johnny Chan, Steve

Hansen, Victor Ramdin, Hevad Khan, Jeff Madsen, Chip
Jett, Chris Moneymaker, Bertrand Grospellier, Phil
Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari, Evelyn Ng, Men "The
Master" Nguyen and Jennifer Harman.
The end of Day 2B will see the survivors merge with
those who made it from Day 2A and move forward to Day 3
play and a further reduction of the Main Event field.
