MORE BUSINESS FOR ID VERIFICATION GROUP

Two bookies and a skill gamer for 192's ID
verification services
The British ID and age verification specialists, 192
Business Services has signed up three new clients:
online bookies Betfred and JAXX, and skill gaming group
World Sports Challenge, the company reveals in a press
release this month.
192 says it has noted an increase in demand for its
products in the run-up to September’s deadline for
responsible online gaming compliance in the UK following
the requirements of the UK Gambling Commission that
online operators exclude problem or underage gamblers
and criminal elements.
From September 2007, the Commission will have new powers
of enforcement to ensure British gambling operators are
acting in a socially responsible manner. To this end,
operators will soon require a licence from the
Commission, which will be issued subject to a range of
checks such as criminal records checks, integrity checks
and financial checks.
“Gaming operators will soon be under the watchful eye of
the gambling commission and will need to concretely
prove the age and ID of their customers,” said Ian
Green, director of 192.com Business Services.
“As face-to-face verification isn’t possible for online
operators, the industry will need to proactively
integrate real-time ID and age checking solutions into
the customer registration process from the start.”
192 says that its Player-ID product checks names,
addresses and dates of birth against datasets and shared
databases with banks and building societies. The checks
happen in real-time but in the background, so a
prospective customer never knows they’re taking
place.
“Ensuring socially responsible gambling on our site is
one of our top priorities,” said Betfred compliance
manager, Jim Winder. “192.com Business Services not only
allows us to verify that our customers are of the legal
gambling age, but also by default
checks that they are not using a stolen identity.
“The industry has seen its fairshare of legislative
setbacks over the past year, so we’re doing everything
we can to remain compliant and transparent about our
responsible gaming efforts.”
“The World Sports Challenge is committed to providing
players and affiliates with the best of online gaming
experiences,” said Merik Toms, director of payments and
security at The World Sports Challenge. “A vital factor
in this is the creation of the safest and most secure
environments for players. 192.com Business Services' age
and player verification system helps us to achieve that
goal and to meet regulatory requirements fully.”
