NEW ONLINE SPORTSBOOK FOR LADBROKES
15 January 2010
Variety of sports to be livestreamed from new
site
One of the UK's most established online and land
bookmakers, the Ladbrokes group, expects to launch an
impressive new version of its Internet sportsbook this
week.
Company spokesmen have revealed that
online punters will be able to access over 30 000
livestreamed sporting events in 2010, thanks to an
investment of some GBP 3 million in Internet broadcast
rights to international sports fixtures that include
football from 11 countries, international Europa Cup and
Asian Champions League matches, and tennis and cricket
from Wimbledon, the Australian Open and ATP tennis along
with coverage of the Australian Twenty20 league cricket.
The service will be free-to-view for Ladbrokes
players, although in the case of horseracing viewers
will be obliged to place a GBP 1 bet.
Ladbrokes'
popular in-play betting service will feature in a
special module on the homepage for the convenience of
players.
John O'Reilly, who heads up the online
gaming activities of the group, says that the site
underlines the importance the group places on in-play
betting and live video streamed events. "This
initiative, together with further development of our
mobile offering and the development of new markets in
Europe, will continue the growth,” he said this week.
The gambling group is enjoying a busy week with the
parallel launch in Italy of its dedicated online poker
offering (see previous InfoPowa reports) which the
company says already has 35 000 registered players and
will provide freeplay Texas Hold'Em tourneys. Once the
Italian regulations permit, the group plans to launch
Italian cash games, too.
