FULL TILT SEEKS DISMISSAL OF GOWEN LEGAL ACTION
9 January 2009
12 page motion now under consideration
Woman poker ace Clonie Gowen starts the new year still
embroiled in a legal battle with Full Tilt Poker (see
previous InfoPowa report), with the giant poker site's
latest move a 12 page motion for dismissal of the
action.
Full Tilt's legal team filed the motion in answer to
Gowen's initial suit, which concerned a number of
"breach of contract" and "breach of good faith" issues,
for which she initially claimed $40 million in
compensation and damages after being dropped by the
poker site. Her claim named some of the biggest names in
international poker who are associated with Full Tilt,
along with companies like Tiltware LLC, Pocket Kings
Ltd., and Kolyma Corporation, A.V.V.
This week's move by Full Tilt lawyers Olson, Cannon,
Gormley, and Desruisseaux of Las Vegas, Nevada seeks the
dismissal of the case - not an unusual legal tactic -
and for the other side to refine their claims and
re-file their case, or for the individual players named
in the original lawsuit to be dropped from the action.
Meanwhile, Full Tilt's owners will be encouraged by the
latest MarketPulse.com statistics, which show that on
January 4th this (2009) year the website recorded a new
high in the average number of players per hour getting
into cash games. The 9 936 players independently
recorded on January 4th is significantly higher than
last year's best days for the site, when 9 704 players
were involved on highest traffic days in November and
December.
The daily traffic breakdown is an average of player
volume by hour over a 24-hour period playing cash games.
